Thank you for standing up for Kickemuit River

To the editor:

The Kickemuit River Council (KRC) wishes to thank the Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) for going to court to insist that the illegal, unauthorized docks be removed from the Kickemuit River. We thank Brian Goldman for his presentation to the judge. Thanks, too, to Laura Miguel and Jeff Willis of CRMC for their testimony in court. Brian Harrington from CRMC was also present. Jim Harper, Laurel Park Improvement Association president, and Matt Salcone lent their wonderful support. It was a great day in court.

Thanks, too, to all the citizens, especially David Urban, KRC president and Jim Harper for alerting authorities to the problem.

KRC also wants to thank the Town of Warren for forging ahead on the boats stashed in the river and on the Koolen property. Harbormaster Matt Calouro, Town Solicitor Anthony DeSisto, the Warren Town Council, and, again, Jim Harper and David Urban, all worked hard to protect the Kickemuit River. They truly are the voices for the river — one of Warren’s treasures. Thank also to the Warren Times and Bristol Phoenix for what would we know on this matter or others without them.

It is a time for Thanksgiving and I am grateful for all of you.

Ann Morrill

Laurel Lane

Ms. Morrill is the first vice president of the Kickemuit River Council.
