Manuel Almeida Jr., 72, of Arlington Avenue, Warren, passed away on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012. He was the husband of Barbara (La Grange) Almeida.
Born in Bristol, he was a son of the late Manuel and Deolinda (Ferreira) Almeida. He attended Bristol schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the owner of Almeida Tree Care and was a Fourth Degree member of the Swansea Knights of Columbus.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Manuel Almeida of Warren, Kenneth Almeida of Cranston, Jesse Almeida of Warren and Karen Goyette of Providence; his grandchildren, Joanna, Joshua, Sonni, Manuel III, Michael, Kenneth, Alexandra, Justin, Tyler and Colton; his great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Gabriel, Jayce, Keith Jr. and Abigail; his sisters, Alice Silvia, Linda Silva, Beverly Paiva, Mary Lou Pontes and Rose Belanger; and his brother, John Almeida. He was a brother of the late Mary Brown and Bella Watts.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 5, from the George C. Lima Funeral Home in Bristol, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Elizabeth Church, Bristol. Serving as pallbearers were Robert Goyette, Colton Goyette, Joshua Almeida, Tyler Almeida, Kenneth Almeida, Justin Almeida, Keith Raposa and Nicholas Costa. Burial was private.
