Karen A. Cartin, 54, died at home Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
The daughter of the late Thomas and Rose (Souraty) Cartin, she was a communicant of St. Mary of the Bay Church and an employee of the Lincoln School in Providence for 18 years. She was a devoted Red Sox fan and loved cooking for her family, the beach and anything purple.
She was the former wife of Nicholas P. Ferrara. She leaves her beloved children, Nicholas A. Ferrara and Michael T. Ferrara of Riverside, and Kristina N. Ferrara and grandson Nicolas Soler of Bristol; her sister, Margaret M. Cartin of East Providence; her godmother Marie (Glover) Dias of Warren; and many friends and extended members of the Cartin and Souraty families.
Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, where family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30. Funeral services are at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St. Burial will follow in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery.
